Strawberry Farms I

Strawberry Farms!
This was a fun adventure. We toured this local organic farm and got to taste fresh vegetables (carrots, green onions) and Strawberries straight from the ground. I guess they are having a strawberry nightmare this season. Their plants were attacked by some kind of disease and since they are an organic farm they can't use pesticides or other chemicals to kill it off. So they have lost over 50% of their strawberry plants this season. So instead of picking baskets of strawberries to take home -they asked us to pick and eat only as many as would fill our bellies at that time. And then they gave us a basket of strawberries to take home with us. They had to purchase these strawberries from another farm because their supply is so limited. You know it is bad when a strawberry farmer is buying strawberries from ANOTHER farm. Bummer! I felt bad and did not really want to eat any. Notice how bad Cheyenne felt..........
Cheyenne likes the Strawberries. You can see all dead strawberry plants in the background of this pictures. Sad, huh?
