I felt impressed to share my thoughts on the subject of Family.
I am not sure why but here it goes. I was reading a section off of our church website
on Lds.org. and it touches on exactly how I am feeling. Sometimes I just get so
overwhelmed by the many, many blessings I have. And the one thing I know for sure
is that gratitude is a way to show Heavenly Father that we recognize his hand in our blessings.
The other way we can show that we are thankful for all he does is by obeying his commandments. Elder Scott mentions this very topic in his General Conference 2007 Talk titled; Using the Supernal Gift of Prayer. He refers to the scripture found in D&C 59: 21 "And in nothing doth man offend God...save those who confess not his hand in all things, and obey not his commandments." So in an effort to not offend him - I try so hard to be very grateful for all I have. And at this moment I have an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the family I have been blessed with. I am grateful for a husband and two children that challenge me to be better every day as I try to meet their needs. I am grateful for a gospel that teaches me how to be better and for a home that allows me to put these teachings into action. I know and believe that our homes and our family relationships is where we can show our Heavenly Father that we are learning his principles and striving to be like him. Isn't it ironic that in our homes is where it HAS to happen and in our homes is the HARDEST place to make it happen. I love this link on our church website about families:
Thank you for allowing me to share those thoughts.
